Hacked E-Mail Is New Fodder for Climate Dispute

By ANDREW C. REVKIN
Published: November 20, 2009

Hundreds of private e-mail messages and documents hacked from a computer server at a British university are causing a stir among global warming skeptics, who say they show that climate scientists conspired to overstate the case for a human influence on climate change.

The Secret To Becoming President

From the Wikipedia entry on "Frasier Crane":

In Cheers, Frasier appears more neutral, expressing cynicism for the political process. The eleventh season episode "Woody Gets an Election" sees Frasier insisting that politics in general is a superficial popularity contest, full of insincere candidates who only care about re-election, rather than the promises they make to attain their positions. He makes a bet with Sam that even Woody, a man completely oblivious of the workings of politics could receive 10% of the vote in the upcoming Boston City Council election through utilization of standard campaigning procedure. "Just get up there and say the word 'change' a lot," is a sample of some of the advice Frasier gives Woody.

The King Is Dead, Long Live the King!

Okay, so Michael Jackson has unexpected deceased. But is he really gone?

No doubt there will be many conspiracy theories about this for years to come. Like, maybe the police and news media helped him fake his death, so he could live out the rest of his life in anonymity. Or perhaps he really is dead, but the government ordered him killed. Or maybe the body is not that of Michael Jackson, but his clone! Or...well, you get the idea.

Whatever the truth, sonn enough there will probably be as many Michael Jackson sightings as there are Elvis sightings!

There's gonna be an earthquake in this town. There will be houses falling down. The fire hydrants will blow up; the streets will crack, the pipes will pop. It's going kill my mom and dad, they are the only folks I had. But they better not blame me, 'cause it's not my fault!

It's always fun living in L.A., always a good show on somewhere--what more can I say? There's gonna be an earthquake, I can't miss it, no way.

I'm gonna run, run, run! We're having so much fun, 'cause there's a building chasing me. Smack, smack! I just fell in a crack, and now I'm part of the debris.

There's going to be an earthquake in this town, the dogs are chasing their tails around. There's a buzzing in the air; maybe I'll die, but I don't care. My surfboard's ready for the tidal wave, I'm gonna ride down Sunset like a Beach Boy today. I only hope I don't wipeout in West L.A.!

Yes, I enjoy living life this way; always a good show on somewhere--what more can I say? It's gonna be an earthquake, I can't miss it, no way!

Driving Away From Home

Hey, now just get in, and close the door, and put your foot down.

You know, I like this suburb we're going through. And I've been around here many times before. When I was young we were gonna move out this way, for the clean air; healthy, you know. Away from the factories and the smoke.

I like that shop, too. You can get anything there. So just get in, and we'll go for a ride.

I'll tell you what, why don't we cross the city limit and head on down the M62? It's only thirty nine miles and forty five minutes to Manchester. And that's my birth-place, you know.

Some of my friends live up North, too. If you'd like a longer trip, all you've got to do is put your foot hard down to the floor, and we can call on people I know in Newcastle. Or maybe even Glasgow.

There's a lot of nice places to see out there. So just don't worry.

Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying.

When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.
